You are on holiday in Polignano a Mare and you are surely wondering which is the best place to relax for a few hours by the sea, so we offer you this small guide to the beaches in the area. Will we be able to satisfy everyone's tastes? Starting from the north in the Cozze area, you will find the Coco Beach Club, a rocky beach where access to the sea is made easier by platforms. The lido offers different types of relaxation areas to meet everyone's needs, and also features a swimming pool, a bar, and a restaurant, "La Casetta del Pescatore". In short, everything needed for the most demanding customers. Continuing south, now in the Polignano area, there is Oasi Cala Fetente, one of the very few sandy beaches in Polignano. Here you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, but you can also freely stay on the shoreline. Here too you can enjoy a kiosk for drinks or snacks, or stop for lunch at the restaurant next to the beach, “I Vecchi Marinai” and enjoy excellent fresh fish. About a kilometer from Cala Fetente, just before San Vito, you will find San Giovanni, a small hamlet of Polignano. Here there are several options: the first, Cala San Giovanni, is a private and equipped lido, a small cove inside a ravine, a strip of sand framed by unspoiled nature. Just outside is Miami Beach, physically very similar to Coco Village, in fact it gives access to a rocky beach just outside the facility; here you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas and enjoy the exclusive saltwater pool and have lunch at the nearby restaurant “Ai 2 Ghiottoni”. Next, you will come across San Vito, a wonderful hamlet of Polignano, known for the Abbey dedicated to San Vito, who is also the patron saint of the town. It overlooks a picturesque little port, colored by the old fishermen's boats; the shoreline, instead, completely free and without equipped lidos, continues up to San Giovanni, passing behind the Saracen Tower. There are several refreshment points in the area. Continuing towards the entrance of the town, a series of free beaches follow one another up to the tourist port, several of which are sandy, including Porto Contessa and Porto Cavallo, which are worth mentioning. Porto Contessa is characterized by a small strip of sand in a rocky inlet, giving the possibility to stay in this area even for lovers of rocks. Porto Cavallo, on the other hand, is a small sandy beach right next to the tourist port, accessible via a small narrow passage that leads to a small strip of sand, often shaded and sheltered from the wind. After the port, between the restaurants “Cozze Nere” and “Tuccino”, there is another small beach, Santa Caterina, also inside a ravine. On the beach there is a small kiosk, "Il Grecale", set up for refreshments and for renting pedal boats and canoes, as well as for renting umbrellas and sunbeds. From Santa Caterina onwards, the coast rises and the cliff continues jagged up to the entrance of Monopoli, where you will only find rocky inlets, the so-called “Lame”. The first is Lido Cala Paura, famous because it is the arrival point of the sea procession of the patron saint. There are several options on site, on one side a beach equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and pedal boat rental, on the other a free beach, where fishermen's boats are often moored. Recently, the area has also been equipped with platforms to make access easier for everyone. Immediately after Cala Paura, for lovers of daring dives, there is Grottone, a small rocky area from which it is easy to reach the water, also notable for its natural pool, much appreciated by children. Next door, in the restaurant of the same name “Ristorante Il Grottone”, you can eat fresh fish while enjoying one of the most beautiful views of Polignano. Next, the very famous beach of Lama Monachile, stage of the Red Bull Cliff Diving and backdrop of numerous films in recent years. It is a very popular cove, crowded already in the early morning, in the center of the town, and certainly the easiest to reach, but also the least loved by those who prefer sand. Near the hermit's rock, the result of another wonderful ravine, there is Cala Sala, more commonly known as “Port’alga”, a cove in the most unspoiled nature and the favorite place of the locals of Polignano. Similar to Cala Sala is Cala Incina, almost on the border with the municipality of Monopoli, it is the largest ravine in the area, marked by another Saracen tower, twin to the one in the territory of San Vito, an almost wild place, completely untouched by man. Polignano a Mare for the tenth consecutive year has been awarded the Blue Flag for the quality of its water and the services offered, as well as the 5 sails of Legambiente. In the sea that inspired Domenico Modugno and many national and international directors, there really is something for everyone. So what can we say, all that's left is for you to choose!!
